WGN-TV Gossip Girl Handbag Sweepstakes

OFFICIAL RULES

1. TO ENTER: You must be 16 years of age or older and a legal resident of IL or NW Indiana at the time of entry. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Sweepstakes begins April 28, 2008 7:00PM, and ends on May 19, 2008 at 8:00PM (the "Sweepstakes Period"). To enter, watch Gossip Girl on WGN-TV, Mondays from 7PM-8PM during the Sweepstakes Period. During each airing of Gossip Girl during the Sweepstakes Period, a keyword will be displayed on screen and viewers will be directed to enter the Sweepstakes as described below. Entries must be received by 8:00pm on the day the episode airs (i.e., April 28, May 5, May 12 and May 19).

a. Enter via Text-Message: Using the text messaging feature on your cellular telephone, send a text message to 97999 with the keyword in the body of the message. All entrants must have a text messaging two-way capable handset and digital service in order to enter the Sweepstakes using the text messaging method. Entrants will be sent a text message to confirm or reject entry into the Sweepstakes. Text-Message entries may be subject to fees under the terms of the entrant's cell-phone/text messaging subscription plan (contact your carrier for pricing plans and details). Text messaging and wireless service are not available in all areas. If any dispute arises as to identity of any entrant, an entrant shall be considered the authorized account holder by the cellular provider. "Authorized Account Holder" is defined as the natural person who is assigned a number by the cellular provider or as shown on the cellular provider's records or the natural person authorized to use the number by an entity that is shown on cellular provider's records for that number. Only entries to the designated number and containing the correct keyword shall be eligible. Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any text message entry at any time which in Sponsor's opinion does not comply with these Official Rules.

b. Enter On-Line: To enter, log on to wgntv.com and follow the Sweepstakes link(s) until reaching the entry page. Complete the entire entry form, including the keyword, your name, age, valid email address, telephone or mobile phone number. On-line entries containing attachments or generated by a script, macro or other automated means shall be disqualified. On-line entrants must use their own names.

c. Restrictions: By entering, entrants agree to be bound by and comply with these Official Rules. One entry per person per Program episode, per entry method (for a maximum of two entries per week and eight entries per person over the course of the Sweepstakes Period); subsequent entries during a weekly Entry Period originating from a unique 10-digit cell phone (in the case of Text-Message entries) or from a single e-mail address (in the case of On-Line Entries) will be disqualified. Entries become the property of WGN and will not be returned. WGN is not responsible for lost, incomplete, damaged, late, or misdirected entries, or for errors in mechanical transmission, technical or wireless difficulties or inability to transmit Internet or text entries. If the keyword does not appear due to a technical glitch, preempted programming or breaking news, then the previous day's keyword may be entered in its place. Any entry without the proper keyword will be disqualified.

2. SELECTION OF WINNERS: One winner each week (for a total of 4 winners) will be selected at random from among all eligible entries received that week, and will be tentatively declared a winner (subject to verification and compliance with these rules). Entrants agree that WGN-TV has the sole right to determine the winner of the contest and all matters or disputes arising from the contest and that its determination is final and binding. Only one winner will be awarded per household. The winners will be notified by telephone or email, depending on the method of entry. If the Winner does not come forward or cannot be found within 48 hours of e-mail notification or is otherwise found to be ineligible, then another Winner shall be chosen in a second random drawing from all remaining eligible entries from that day. Odds of winning depend on the number of entries received. Upon prize forfeiture, no compensation will be given.

3. PUBLICITY RELEASE: Except where prohibited by law, entry in the Sweepstakes constitutes each entrant's consent to use, publish, reproduce and for all purposes, including publicity, promotion and advertising, in commerce and all media worldwide (including without limitation, the Internet, television or offline promotions), each winner's name, city, photograph, likeness, voice, image, statements, descriptions, each in perpetuity without limitation or further compensation, credit or right of review or approval. 4. PRIZES & PRIZE RESTRICTIONS: Each of the four (4) Winners will receive a handbag similar to one of the handbags carried by the characters on Gossip Girl. Choice of handbag is at Sponsor's discretion. The retail value of the prizes will vary depending on the handbag each week, from $400-800. Prizes are non-transferable, non-negotiable and not redeemable for cash, credit or merchandise. If any prize becomes unavailable for any reason, Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of comparable value. Sweepstakes winners must claim their prizes by May 31, 2008 at the WGN-TV (located at 2501 W. Bradley Place, Chicago, IL 60618). Unclaimed prizes will be forfeited, and no alternate winners will be selected. Only one prize will be awarded per person and per household. Winners assume all applicable tax liability for their prize.

5. CONDITIONS & RESTRICTIONS: Winners, by acceptance of a prize, agree to release, indemnify and hold harmless Sponsor, its parent companies and affiliates, and each of their employees, representatives, contractors, sponsors and advertisers, from any and all liability, loss, damage, costs or claims related to any allegation regarding the award of, the receipt of, or the use of their prizes. Sponsor is not responsible for personal injury of any prizewinner incurred in connection with the use of the prize. Winners may be required to execute an affidavit of eligibility and release of liability prior to receiving their prize. All federal, state and local laws apply, and this Sweepstakes is void where prohibited by law. Winner must provide proof of legal name, address, zip code, telephone number and social security number to receive prize (for example, in the form of a government-issued drivers license or identification card). 6. ELIGIBILITY: Sweepstakes is not open to employees of Sponsor or its parent and affiliated companies, licensees, advertising or promotional agencies, prize providers or co-sponsors. Immediate family or household members of such employees are also ineligible.

7. SPONSOR: Sweepstakes is sponsored by WGN-TV, (located at 2501 W. Bradley Place, Chicago, IL 60618) and Plato's Closet. Void where prohibited or restricted. 8. If for any reason, this Sweepstakes is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, tampering, fraud, technical failure, or any other cause which corrupts or threatens the administration, security or integrity of the Sweepstakes, Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to terminate or suspend the Sweepstakes or any portion of the Sweepstakes. ANY ATTEMPT TO DAMAGE OR UNDERMINE THE FAIR AND LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THIS SWEEPSTAKES WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION FROM THE SWEEPSTAKES. Sweepstakes rules shall be governed and enforced pursuant to Illinois law, excluding choice of law provisions.
