Friday Night Dinner At Yale
With Richard and Emily on their "honeymoon," Lorelai joins Rory for Friday night dinner at Yale - not that she would go to Richard and Emily's were they here. Rory wonders how her mom is doing post-breakup and tells Lorelai that she got an e-mail from Christopher. In it, he said what happened at the reception was just a misunderstanding. Lorelai's not buying it. Meanwhile, Rory wonders if both Emily and Richard were involved in breaking up Luke and Lorelai or if Emily acted alone. Lorelai believes the whole thing reeks of Emily.
Marty, Where Have You Been?
Lorelai and Rory spot Marty on campus, but he runs away before Rory can talk to him. Later, Rory spots him again while in a newspaper editorial meeting. She decides to take-off and try to talk to Marty. Rory tells Marty that she's misses him "a lot" and she persuades him to hang out with her on Saturday night for a Marx Brothers marathon. When he agrees, she gives him a hug.
Luke And His Boat
At some point Luke took his boat out of Lorelai's garage without telling Lorelai, but then proceeded to park it outside the diner where everybody can see it. The starts the whole town talking and makes Lorelai very upset. She calls it a big breakup billboard. To try and turn it into a positive Lorelai enlists Sookie (and later Michel) to help her make the garage her own special, alone, place.
Fiddler On The Roof
Lulu alerts Luke that he's supposed to build sets for the school play. Apparently, weeks ago Lorelai signed up Luke and herself to help out. Luke, is at first, not to enthusiastic to help out, but when he realizes that he may run into Lorelai there he agrees to help. Unfortunately, the only women Luke runs into while building the sets are Lulu and his ex-classmate Carrie who hits on him nonstop. When one of the children trips on her costume Luke takes the opportunity to visit Lorelai's and complain. They argue about that, the boat, and Lorelai's newly-redecorated garage. The night of the play, things look a little promising for Luke and Lorelai when they both steal glances at each other during the song, "Do You Love Me."
Movie And A Dinner
Marty and Rory's evening looks almost identical to a Rory and Lorelai movie night: old movies and way too much food. Marty and Rory look very comfortable until Logan appears at the door and asks Rory to join him for a group dinner at at chinese restaurant. Rory leaves it up to Marty whether or not he wants to go, and being the good friend that he is, he says sure. Dinner is a disaster for Marty: throughout, Logan plays with Rory's hair, Logan's friends talk about the prestigious boarding schools they attended - or rather, partied at and then Marty doesn't have the $75 to cover his part of the bill. Outside of the restaurant Rory loans Marty some money (Logan offers to pay for Rory's dinner). Rory tells Marty that they can ditch Logan and his friends, but Marty's bad evening continues when he admits to Rory that he wants to be more than friends with her and she admits that she likes Logan. He already knew that. He turns down her offer to watch "Duck Soup" again and takes off.
Later that night
Logan visits Rory and tells her that he never gave her a "proper goodbye." They start kissing. Logan wonders if he should leave, but Rory says he can spend the night with her
