You can only hide for so long
Jackson has to hide out from the townspeople because they all have demands for him now that he's the Selectman. Lorelai, being the good friend that she is, adds her own request. He can't relax or hang out near windows without being harassed.
Meanwhile, Sookie is very emotional during her pregnancy, but Jackson is able to handle her mood swings and cravings for odd foods. Two things he can't handle are ribbon-cutting ceremonies and town meetings. He swears to buck the 200-year tradition of Stars Hollow and not hold a town meeting. Miss Patty, however, outsmarts him and he's unknowlingly lured into one.
Two Dinners, One Friday
Rory is sick of humoring Emily and Richard with the separate dinners on Friday. She wants to get them in a room and talk some sense into them. She decides a good approach would be for Lorelai and her to each meet with one of them. Lorelai sets up dinner with Emily and Rory has dinner with Richard.
Rory meets with Richard for Friday and is excited about her evening - she thinks she made progress in getting the pair back together. On the flip side, Emily thinks that Richard has proven that he's moved on with his life (Her evidence is that he didn't offer her butter at a dinner function.) Emily turns to Lorelai for advice on how to start dating people.
G.G.'s Daddy
With all of the baby talk at Sookie's, Lorelai wonders why Christopher never called her back after his meltdown when Sherry left him alone with G.G. She calls him to catch-up, and he's apologetic for bugging her before, but also very distant. He doesn't mention that Rory told him not to call her. Lorelai invites Chris to come by The Dragonfly Inn on Saturday for lunch with Rory and her.
Let's do lunch
Chris is impressed with the inn and Lorelai for making her dream happen. Rory is NOT impressed that her parents are eating together. When Lorelai leaves, Rory doesn't believe that lunch was Lorelai's idea and not Chris'. They have a fight. Lorelai doesn't know why the mood is so dark at lunch when she returns.
Rory explains that she told Chris not screw things up with Lorelai's life. She asks Lorelai what Luke said when she mentioned that she was having lunch with Chris. Lorelai lies to Rory and says that he didn't care. The truth is, she never told Luke that she was having lunch with Chris.
Come clean
Lorelai feels guilty for not telling Luke that she had lunch with Christopher. She finally blurts it out in an awkward way. Luke isn't sure what to make of it.
Luke turns to an unlikely source for relationship advice: T.J. He needed Luke's assistance to fix the bathroom in his new house since he refuses to hire a professional and by his own doing, demolished it. While helping him, Luke asks for advice about the Lorelai/Chris situation. Luke tries to explain the situation in a way that T.J. can understand, but T.J. misinterprets Luke's hypothetical scenario and runs off thinking Liz is eating lunch with her ex. Luke later tells Lorelai, out of the blue, that he's OK with her meeting with Chris.
What would a bad date be like
Emily has a panic attack trying to get ready for her date and asks Lorelai to help her get ready . She's freaking out because she used Lorelai's line ("hello") and it worked. Lorelai's reluctant to help, but after Emily tells her it's what she really wants to do, she's more supportive.
Emily's date with Simon goes very well. They have a lot in common, talk easily and he asks her out again. The night seems to end on such a high note, until Emily starts crying. She obviously isn't ready to date.
Scraps From The Table:
Luke is happy that Rory and Dean aren't dating.
Paris decides to fast for Ramadan, so she can be true to her reporting
Michel attacks two customers at The Dragonfly thinking they are the notorious "bathrobe bandits" he remembers from The Independence Inn.
Rory's studying with Marty. They commiserate over their bad weeks, but Marty becomes interested that Rory broke up with her boyfriend. Rory falls asleep before he can ask her more about it.
