Thank You For The Message, Lorelai
At Friday Night Dinner, Lorelai and Christopher are the toast of the evening. They even get a gift. Emily and Richard present them with a hideous etching called "Wolf Girl" as a wedding present. You have to wonder if it's retaliation gift given the way they were told of the marriage: via answering machine message. Emily and Richard sarcastically say they will treasure the message forever. They even play it back for all to hear.

But wait, there's more. They want to throw Lorelai and Christopher a wedding party. Lorelai's not too thrilled with the prospect, but Rory sides with Chris and her grandparents and says that an official party would be nice. Despite being part of a tight-knit community, Lorelai's list of guests is short: Rory, Logan, Sookie, Jackson and Michel. Emily wishes she would invite some of the "charming" Stars Hollow friends, but Lorelai declines. All in all, Lorelai's uncomfortable with the whole scene.

Party Like It's 2002
It's back to the hood for Rory, she's officially out of Logan's apartment and back into her old digs with Paris and Doyle. This time, Paris wants Rory to sign a lease since she's subletting - it's a standard contract - well for Paris, anyways. There's a surcharge for overnight boyfriend stays.

Rory's back in school and back into the college scene, getting excited for a 2002-themed party thrown by Olivia and Lucy. Logan, last year's party MVP says he can't make it, he has too many work-related things to do.

Later, Rory comes by to drop off some 2002 paraphenalia for Lucy and Olivia but gets weirded out by the Marty-Lucy interaction. It's a little strange for Rory to see, especially in comparison to the cold way he's been treating her. In fact, Rory says Marty's reaction is "beyond cold" and "beyond weird."

At the party she finally confronts him about how big of a jerk he's been and he agrees to stop it, but at the end of the party he does a complete 180 and tells Rory that she's more beautiful than ever. This could explain his weirdness - he's still not over her! Rory tells him that he should get back to his girlfriend which he does and then starts making out with Lucy on the dance floor.

Stars Hollow Knit-a-thon
In Stars Hollow, Lorelai's got a laundry list of errands to run for a fundraiser to fix the Old Muddy River Bridge. Chris can tell that she doesn't want him to go with her. Lorelai says that she wants to give the townspeople a chance to let their marriage sink in. Chris says they can't adjust if the people don't ever see him. Lorelai can see his point and they head out together.

First, they run into Babette who has a faux happy reaction for the newlyweds as does Miss Patty. Lorelai asks Sookie, her best friend to get on board and start accepting Christopher as her husband. Sookie agrees and suggests that Lorelai "campaign" for Chris. They decide that a good way to do this is to pair him up out on the town with a local favorite: Jackson. For Chris' "man date" with Jackson to get beers, Lorelai forces him to tone down his "Joaquin Phoenix at the Oscars look." Tight jeans and tight black sweater are exchanged for loose jeans and a relaxed sweater.

It's an awkward night. Much like a first date. Jackson even gives Chris a thinly-veiled story about commitment. In other words: we love Lorelai, you better stick around this time, buddy. Things must have gone better after that because Jackson and Christopher are chums at the knitathon, which by the way probably shouldn't have been scheduled outdoors in November.

It's cold at the knitathon, and everybody's grumbling because there are seven uncomfortable hours to go. Or so they thought, Chris makes a $7,800 donation to help the knitters reach their goal ahead of schedule. While the other knitters: Sookie, Miss Patty, Babette and Gypsy are happy about it because now they can catch a warm movie instead of knitting on a chilly November day, Lorelai is disappointed. She loves town events. and his gesture ruined the whole spirit of it for her. Chris doesn't understand what the big deal is, he was trying to be helpful. Was he? He makes Lorelai understand that maybe she's reading into things too much. He's a likable guy, and the townspeople will like him.

I'm Luke, her father
Luke's having a bad day. The knitters have taken over his diner, he saw Lorelai and Chris strolling through town together and Ana has news. Her mom is recovering, but Ana has decided that she and April are going to move to New Mexico to be near her. Ana says April's not thrilled. Neither is Luke, but he tries to keep a good attitude about the whole thing. Later, April breaks down crying at the diner. She tells Luke she doesn't want to move, she finally has friends who don't think she's dork. In New Mexico, she'll have to start all over again.

Luke meets up with Ana to come up with some new plans for handling the big move - just to make things easier on April. He suggests letting April stay with him until the end of the school year, but Ana has no intention of budging on her plans. She says Luke has no right making promises to "her daughter." These are her decisions, and she's not ready to make them. Luke is totally stunned, but he can barely recoil from it because his sister Liz is in labor at home with a midwife (aka a Doula) and she wants Luke there for the big event.

After the baby's born, who Liz and TJ name Doula, Luke is totally overcome with feelings for the new baby and his own daughter, April.

It's time for an evening visit at Ana's house with a message for her, "she's not just your daughter, she's my daughter too." The role of Ana being the sole decision maker isn't going to happen anymore and Luke says he will fight her if he has to. He and April have built a special relationship. Plus, he's her father and he has rights. Does Luke have the right?

  Gilmore Girls poll

Does Luke have a right to say what happens to April?
He sure does! He's her father.
No, he hasn't really been a part of her life long enough to pull rank.

What did you think of Christopher's $7,800 gesture?
What a guy. How kind and generous of him!
What a show-off. We get it, you're rich.

Was Lorelai too tough on Christopher?
Yes - critiquing his clothes? Getting mad at him for letting people get out of the cold? Lighten up.
No - she was doing her best to help him fit in.
I think at times she was right on, but other times she was harsh.
