Bad Scenes And Strange Presents
Season Seven picks up right where Season Six left off... Rory wakes up in the apartment and sees signs of the London party draped everywhere. Amid the streamers and party remains, Rory finds a gold box with beautiful red bow around it. It's the kind of box that is usually filled with long-stem roses, but not this time... Instead, Rory finds a silver rocket in it? She's not quite sure what that means...

Meanwhile, Lorelai wakes up in horror of her own surroundings: she's in Chris' bed! She gets dressed quickly and tries to make a hasty exit, but Chris wants her to stay. She manages to talk her way out the door and cringes thinking about what she did last night. When she gets home she finds Babette there dogsitting for Paul Anka and oddly (or not, for Babette), washing her delicates. Babette has a million things to talk about, she's even heard about Lorelai's fight with Luke. She wonders where Lorelai was last night, because she didn't see her jeep at Sookie's and obviously, she wasn't at home... Finally, Babette realizes that Lorelai wants to be alone and leaves.

Rory wanders around Yale. It's the start of summer, but she's not sure what to do since Logan's not around. Paris already has plans for her summer break: SAT prep courses. In true Paris fashion, she makes both the student AND her mother take aptitude tests. While they take their tests, she warns Rory to set rules up with Logan. After all, the last time they were apart he slept with a bunch of bridesmaids. Rory didn't even consider that they might be broken-up in some way - then again, she didn't think that the last time either...

Luke makes his way over to Lorelai's house, but she has no time to chat with him. She says she's late for work. Luke tries to get his point across that he felt ambushed by her ultimatum the day before, but now he's ready to talk about what happened. Lorelai tells him there's nothing left to discuss because it's over between them. Before he can get anymore words in, she gets in her car and takes off.

At the Dragonfly Inn, Sookie goes on for minutes about arm wrestling Michel until she realizes that Lorelai looks like she's on the verge of breakdown. Lorelai tells her that she and Luke are over. Sookie tries to pass it off like it was just a fight they can get over, but Lorelai says it was bigger than that: Luke didn't fight for her and it hurts her too much to stay with him. Plus, to make matters worse, she tells Sookie how she spent the night with Christopher.

Taylor's Newest Big Idea
At the diner, Luke is on a rampage. It doesn't help his mood that Taylor is up to something. He wants to install a red light camera to discourage drivers who run red lights. Kirk, of course, is on the scene to help with the install. Luke protests the whole idea, but Taylor brushes him off and says that the diner might lose power for a while during the installation. If only loss of power was the worst inconvenience that the diner would suffer... During the test run demonstration there's an accident. Kirk, designated the Ceremonial First Lawbreaker, gets blinded by the flash bulbs from the camera, loses control of Taylor's vintage 1964 Thunderbird and plows into Luke's Diner. Luke's day just keeps getting better and better!

Let's Do Sports
With nothing going on at Yale, Rory heads back to Stars Hollow. Neither she nor Lorelai feel like talking about the recent events going on in their lives, so they decide to do something that doesn't require talking: racquetball.

Sitting, not playing on the racquet ball court, Rory and Lorelai try to figure out what exactly the rocket from Logan could mean. Is the rocket filled with anything? Does it have a button you can push? Eventually, they decide to play instead of talk, but Lorelai immediately gets hit in the eye with the ball - game over. They head back to the house to put some ice on Lorelai's eye, but then realize that Lorelai doesn't have ice. She sends Rory off to the market to get some ice... and meat... and peas. While Rory's out, Lorelai gets the bright idea to rid her house of everything that is Luke's or reminds her of Luke.

In her travels, Rory sees Kirk's big traffic camera accident and tells Lorelai about the big disaster at Luke's Diner. She also notices the piles of stuff and wonders what happened between her mother and Luke. Earlier she didn't know how to act around Luke because she didn't know exactly what was going on. Lorelai only says she gave Luke an ultimatum and he said no.

Accidents Happen
Luke is through the roof about the accident, but he can't make any decisions about what to do about the car conspicuously parked in his diner. He can't make any decisions. All he can do is sit in in his diner surrounded by a big mess.

Meanwhile, Lorelai and Rory sit in the middle of a virtually-empty house. Rory has only one decorator item: the rocket. Thinking about what Paris said, Rory's confused. She doesn't know if they are together or broken up. They never had "the talk." Lorelai suggests that Rory go to London and see Logan. She doesn't have any plans for the summer.

Later that evening, Chris calls to check in on Lorelai and tell her that he had a really great time last night. She suggests that they not make more out of it than it was and that it shouldn't happen again. He's crushed, but says he's there if she needs him. Do you feel bad for Christopher?

Rocket Mystery Solved
Rory, still baffled by the rocket, starts hitting the chatrooms and doing some online research. Finally, the Rocketboy blog gives her the answer. The model rocket ship is from an episode of Twilight Zone called "The Long Morrow."

Rory finally remembers that it's Logan's favorite episode of the show. In it, an astronaut is going to be launched into space for 40 years in suspended animation. Meanwhile, his true love on Earth will age 40 years. The astronaut decides instead to age in space, so when he returns he can be with his love, meanwhile she decides while he's in space, she'll be in suspended animation so she'll be young when he returns. Rory decides the rocket is a sign of true love and decides that she's going to London.

She's so excited she calls Logan. It's early morning there, but he's already at his office to make a good impression. She thanks him again for the rocket and tells him she can't wait to see him. He says he can't wait either - he's overnighting her a ticket! He says he can't wait for Rory to visit him — for 2 weeks at Christmas... The school year just ended, so it's May in Stars Hollow, but Logan's plan is for Rory to visit him in December! Earlier, she missed him and it had only been 7 hours, this is 7 months! Are they a couple or not?

A New Day
Luke stops by the house to see Lorelai the next morning. He says it will be a couple of weeks to fix the hole in the diner, but he doesn't care about that - it's not real to him. He says his life isn't real to him if Lorelai isn't there to share it with him. He tells her he has a tank full of gas, he's made reservations at bed and breakfasts to go to in Maryland, or Vermont or Maine. Or, he says they can check into a cabin, or go to Atlantic City or Las Vegas, or they could use a sea captain to get married... This is a Luke that hasn't been around since the Martha's Vineyard Trip!

He tells Lorelai that she was right. He need to move faster and think faster. He's ready now. Lorelai tells him again that it's over. He won't hear of it. He wants to go and elope right now until Lorelai tells him that she slept with Christopher. At that, Luke is hurt and speechless. He gets into his truck and drives away...
