June 3 is coming up...
With a full Zydeco band performing at the Dragonfly, Lorelai gets an early morning reminder that her wedding needs to be confirmed or cancelled - and soon. She had almost forgotten about that problem because she's a little depressed that Valentine's Day is near, but Luke considers it a fake holiday. In contrast, Sookie has a nice night planned for Valentine's Day with Jackson and the kids. Lorelai's sure that they don't have reservations or anything else planned for that day. She says Luke's been so consumed with April lately, that they haven't had much time together.

A new plan
Logan has a great idea to go to Martha's Vineyard for Valentine's Weekend and invite Luke and Lorelai along too. This makes Rory happy because she had promised to spend time with her mom and it makes Lorelai happy because now she has plans. Luke doesn't really want to go because it's the dead of winter and it will be really cold there. Also, Luke has concerns about Logan - he doesn't understand if they like him or hate him or what?

The Vineyard
Logan's family's place on the Vineyard is enormous and beautiful, even with its many quirks for being an older home. Nonetheless, Luke is very uncomfortable being in somebody else's house. He's not quite sure what to do with himself. Plus, his first impression of Logan is "snotty" and he keeps worrying that Rory and Logan will break up at any moment. Also, he's not properly prepared for the weekend. He's packed bug spray, granola bars, power bars, a high-powered flashlight, freeze-dried spaghetti, a bowie knife - but no clothes. The waves keep him up, the raccoon that lives on the property keeps him awake... Lorelai, on the other hand, loves the beach in the winter and feels completely at ease.

Fresh start the next day?
On Saturday, the two couples decide to head out to a very un-Gilmore location: the gym. Rory explains that when she and Logan are at the Vineyard they like to get a day pass for the gym. Lorelai's up for anything and agrees to go too. While she and Rory try to figure out how to use the gym equipment, Luke and Logan play a "friendly" game of basketball.

On the court, Luke is literally and figuratively uncomfortable.Since he didn't pack for a weekend, especially not a trip to the gym, he's forced to buy Martha's Vineyard logo apparel, including sneakers which are two sizes too small. Logan easily beats him and Luke doesn't take the loss too well. He tells Lorelai that Logan was cheating.

Also, Luke can't seem to stop complaining about the cold and everything else. Lorelai finally reaches her breaking point and takes a break from Luke. She finds Rory in the kitchen... cooking! Rory's in charge of salad, mashed potatoes and bruschetta while Logan makes lobsters on the grill.

And then there's dinner
Logan plans a real New England meal complete with lobster, a dish Luke has never had. While grilling the lobster Logan casually mentions that he's going to give Rory her Valentines present at dinner. Luke admits he didn't get Lorelai a present - he says Valentine's Day is technically on Tuesday, so he has a couple of days. Saying he "went overboard," Logan generously offers to let Luke give Lorelai one of the two gifts he got for Rory. Luke at first declines and wonders if there's a place nearby where he could pick something up - there isn't unless he wants to give Lorelai some boating supplies. Logan insists, saying that as guys "they need to stick together."

Dinner is a huge success. The food is great, Rory loves her bracelet, Lorelai is really surprised that Luke gave her a beautiful necklace. When Rory recognizes that the jewelry is alike, Logan quickly covers, saying that they both sneaked out and bought the jewelry at the same time.

Time to talk
That night, Lorelai confides to Luke that she thinks their wedding is not going to happen. Finally, she comes clean that she delayed cancelling everything and lost all the deposits. Lorelai's depressed and thinks the trip was a dumb idea. Luke's mood does a complete 180. He calms all of her fears, he says he loves her and adds that at their wedding they are having lobster.

The next day Luke says he has the best night's sleep he's had in months and with breakfast at the door, they seem to be having the perfect start to a perfect day. Luke even mentions that they should elope.

Buzz Kill
The mood is completely ruined with the appearence of a very angry Mitchum Huntzberger. He's mad at Logan for ignoring his calls and pages. Mitchum is mad that Logan didn't take the red-eye to London like he was supposed to, and instead spent the weekend with "his little girlfriend." He wants Logan packed and on his way to the airport in ten minutes. Logan's embarrassed and apologizes for his dad's intrusion to Lorelai.

Rory hears from Mitchum's tirade that Logan is supposed to spend a year in London the day after he graduates. This definitely complicates their supposed plan to visit Asia for 6 weeks. Logan tells Rory not to worry, after all he's not going to think about it - it's months away. Then he climbs into a town car and heads out for the airport.

Back in Stars Hollow
Luke starts getting a cup of coffee together for Lorelai at the diner and it seem together like old times between the two of them. The mood is broken when Caesar delivers the message that April's coming by tomorrow at 3 p.m. Suddenly, Lorelai decides she doesn't need the coffee and Luke reuturns to his pre-weekend distracted self. Luke only makes a half-hearted attempt to stop Lorelai from walking home. Meanwhile, back at home, Lorelai's horrified to hear messages left on her machine. They are from her family and Emily's friends congratulating her on her engagement which was listed IN THE PAPER and her June 3 wedding!
