Meet me for coffee
Rory is so excited! She finally got a call back from A.J. Abrams, an editor at the New York Times. He says he'd meet her for coffee and an informational interview in the city. It's easy enough for her to get there. She can just stay at Logan's place - her laptop is there already. The only downside is that she's in the middle of planning Lane's baby shower. Lorelai steps up and says she'd be more than happy to plan the shower. Lorelai says she's practically a professional party planner. Remember how she transformed April's birthday party into a success?

The day before her interview, Logan returns to the apartment drunk at 3:30 a.m. He stumbles around the apartment trying to make himself a sandwich. Rory tries to help, but Logan decides he doesn't want a sandwich anymore, instead he wants to go to bed with his clothes on.

The next day, Rory tells a very-hungover Logan that she needs him to be ready at 2:30 p.m. at the latest so they can make it to Lane's shower on time. She returns from the interview, but Logan isn't dressed or ready. He finally levels with Rory: his new company is being sued by many people and at least one of the suits has merit. He's lost millions of dollars. Not just his own money but also his fathers, his friends and other investors.

Rory gives him a pass on going to the shower and says she'll come right back when it's over. Logan tells her she doesn't have to because he won't be there. He's going to Vegas with Colin and Finn to "blow off some steam." What do you think about Logan's behavior?

Ask Lane
The shower details won't be a problem, getting Mrs. Kim to attend the shower, however, might be. She and Lane had a disagreement of how Lane planned on raising her children. Hearing that the twins wouldn't be raised as she raised Lane, Mrs. Kim is boycotting the shower.

Lorelai defuses the situation and gets through to both Mrs. Kim and Lane. She tells Lane that she might want to raise her kids a certain way, but there's no telling how the kids will turn out. Who knows? They might actually be interested in studying religion - even though Lane wasn't. She also tells Lane to meet her mother halfway with her demands just to keep the peace. For Mrs. Kim, her message is simple: you don't want to miss out on these things. Lorelai's own mother did and she can never get that time back.

That problem's solved, but there's new one: Lane felt a contraction and is now on bed rest. She can't go the shower and she's completely depressed because this would have been her last hoorah before becoming a mom. After that, there will be no more parties. Lorelai doesn't understand, why won't there be any parties? Lane explains that after she's a mom, she'll do everything for her children. Mrs. Kim beams. That's exactly how she raised Lane and can see that Lane isn't quite as opposite to her feelings as she once thought.

Mrs. Kim puts Lorelai to task to figure out a way to get Lane to the shower. Lorelai has a solution straight out of the Gilmore Girls play book: wheel her bed down the street to the new location, Miss Patty's dance studio - it's quite a scene! As a side note, Zach loves that Lane is on bed rest. Now he feels just like John Lennon an Yoko Ono.

Lane's shower is a huge success. The whole town is there - even Luke shows up. Lane asks Rory to be her "Lorelai Gilmore" to her kids. She knows they'll come a day when the kids won't like her so much, and Lorelai has always helped her through the tough times. She wants Rory to do the same for her kids. Plus, Rory already has the name so it works.

Mrs. Kim presents Lorelai with a present: a door knob that once belonged to John Adams. She's happy that Lorelai invited her to the shower.

Moment of Kirk
Kirk: Word on the street is that you wanna sell your boat?
Luke: I called you, Kirk.
Kirk: Yeah, but I was on the street when I got that call.
Luke's boat
Speaking of Luke... Luke's boat, which he inherited from his father, has been resting comfortably in Liz and T.J.'s garage. By chance, Luke here's Kirk reading about how the boat is for sale in the classifieds. He heads over to Liz and T.J.'s house to talk them about selling his boat without even asking.

Liz and T.J. need the room for their growing jewelry business. All the small parts in the house make them nervous with a baby soon-to-be crawling around. Plus, Liz tells Luke it's not like he ever uses it. Luke says he will someday, but Liz tells him that's what their father used to say too and he never did either.

Hoping to change up his future and not end up doing the same old thing everyday like his dad, Luke decides to sell the boat to Kirk for $600. (Triva note: Kirk is calling the boat the S.S. Lurk - a combo of his and Luke's names.) That same day, Luke buys a new boat which has a bedroom and a bathroom and makes a plan to take April on a boat trip when she's in town over the summer.

Luke tells Lorelai about his new boat and Lorelai can't believe he impulsively bought a boat in one day. She says it used to take him a week to pick out a t-shirt. Things change, Luke says.

Will You Be My Lorelai Gilmore?

What do you think about the Lane and Mrs. Kim's disagreement?
I think Lane was right to make a stand. She should decide how to raise her own kids.
I'm on Mrs. Kim's side. She has life experience that Lane could learn from.
I'm happy Lorelai helped smooth things over so Mrs. Kim would be at the shower.

Logan's behavior: justified or uncalled for?
Justified. He just lost millions, it's OK if he's not acting like himself.
Uncalled for. He's keeping secrets, snapping at Rory, taking vacations. Grow up!
