Tyra Banks
Born in Inglewood, California, in 1973, Tyra's looks were quickly discovered after graduating from Los Angeles' Immaculate Heart High School, and she signed with Elite modeling agency at 17. She soon turned into a fashion icon. Tyra was the first African-American model to be featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit issue, GQ and Victoria's Secret catalog. In 1997, she received the Michael Award for "Supermodel of the Year" and later secured an exclusive contract with Victoria's Secret. She has also appeared in ad campaigns for Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren, and was the Cover Girl face for five years.
Tyra's television career began with a role in "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Aire" and later she appeared on "The Oprah Winfrey Show." Her film credits include "Higher Learning," "Coyote Ugly" and, recently, "Life Size."
Twiggy
Known to many people in the mid-1960s as a supermodel center of the fashion world, Twiggy took the industry by storm at age 17. Born in Twickenham, England, in 1949 she quickly was known as the world's first teenage supermodel. She made it on the cover of Vogue, Newsweek, McCall's and Seventeen.
After retiring from modeling in 1970, Twiggy moved to acting in television, film and on stage. She worked with director Ken Russell and starred in his production "The Boy Friend" which earned her two Golden Globe Awards. After several forgettable movies and albums, she debuted in "My One and Only" which earned her a Tony nomination.
She lives in London with her husband, Leigh Lawson, and their two children.
J. Alexander
J. Alexander started modeling for Jean-Paul Gaultier in New York City, and after three years in Tokyo decided to settle in Paris. He is regularly contacted by designers Bill Blass, Alexander McQueen, Chanel and Valentino for his experience in casting and coaching runway models.
Nigel Barker
Nigel was born in London. His career in the fashion industry began in the mid-1980s when he appeared as a contestant on a British modeling program called "The Clothes Show." This jump-started his modeling career where he worked for fashion companies which included Valention, Donna Karen and Ralph Lauren. After working in front of a camera for 10 years, Nigel decided to turn to photography. In the late 1990s he started his own studio called Studio NB in Manhattan.
Barker's work has appeared in publications including Paper Mag, Instinct and Playboy.
