Police Tuesday night confirmed a body found in the Cook County Forest Preserve District's Busse Woods near Elk Grove Village is that of a missing Schaumburg woman.
The body was found Monday afternoon in a wooded area about 750 yards from a parking lot beside Higgins Road, said Steve Mayberry, a spokesman for the Forest Preserve District. He said the woman was identified late Tuesday as Patricia McNamara, 45, who was reported missing from Schaumburg earlier this month.
Mayberry said the body was badly decomposed, but there were no obvious signs of trauma or foul play. An autopsy Tuesday failed to determine a cause or manner of her death.
The body was discovered after a worker for a mosquito abatement district found a passport.
Police officers began searching the area after the name on the passport came up as a missing or endangered woman from Schaumburg, Mayberry said. He said he did not know how far the passport was from the body.
The woman was reported missing June 1 by her brother, said Schaumburg Police Officer Mark Eschel.
