A Chicago man was sentenced to 80 years in prison Friday after his conviction earlier this year in the robbery, sexual assault and abduction of an Evanston woman.
Anthony McNeal, 30, of the 7000 block of South Cregier Avenue has been in custody since his arrest in September 2005, shortly after he confronted the woman, then 22, at the front door of her apartment, put a knife to her throat and forced her back into her home, where he sexually assaulted her.
McNeal took valuables from the victim's apartment and forced her to ride a CTA train with him into Chicago. Security camera photographs showed him forcing her to withdraw cash from several ATMs and use a credit card to buy him clothes at a sporting goods store, officials said.
McNeal threatened to kill the woman if she cried out for help, police said. He was arrested after police traced calls he made on the woman's cell phone.
He was sentenced at the Skokie Courthouse by Cook County Circuit Judge William O'Brien.
