Cover Story: Gay Brothers Study
Do genetics play a role in homosexuality?

February 27, 2008

Do genetics play a role in homosexuality? A Northwestern University researcher is studying that very topic. Dr. Alan Sanders is conducting the Molecular Genetic Study of Sexual Orientation.

Dr. Sanders has already recruited hundreds of pairs of gay brothers, collecting samples of their DNA, and analyzing data gathered from the brothers. Dr. Sanders is hoping to study as many as one thousand pairs of brothers.

WGN's Medical Reporter Dina Bair reports on the study and talks to a couple of brothers, Chad and Scott Zawitz, who are participating in the study and are convinced genetics play a role in their homosexuality.
