Chicago's Very Own: The Kohl McCormick Early Childhood Teaching Awards
Some winners are shocked to tears as they're surprised with the award

It's a fun competition among teachers where they win money for themselves and their classroom. The competition is based on a few things, including how creative they are in the classroom. In this Chicago's very own, our very own Merri Dee helps surprise the winners...some who are shocked to tears.

Winning teachers receive a five thousand dollar cash award, one-thousand dollars for their school (or center) and a graduate-level course at the Erikson Institute.
