QUESTION: I love the spring containers made of cement I saw at the Chicago Botanic Garden last weekend. I was told I could make a smaller version at home. How do I do this? -Milly from Naperville
TIPS:
"Troughs" made with hypertufa mix
Hypertufa made from Portland cement, sand and peat moss
Mix dry ingredients, add water
Empty into containers; wait 24 hours
Remove drainage holes, scrap surface to age

QUESTION: What can I plant in it?
TIPS:
Sedums, small hostas
Dwarf evergreens like Mugo pines
Pansies, lettuce and parsley
